What Is A Pet Sitter?
By Toni Wing, Pet Sitting Super Hero
It's my first ever blog, I'm so excited. I'm going to ask for forgiveness from the outset, for it is possible you may find the odd grammar mistake within these blogs! My aim here is to help people inside & outside my community and of course my lovely clients, get maximum value by providing as much information as I possibly can about pets.
Being a pet sitter, I do come across lots of different behaviours, foods, habits, information that I always think may be useful to other people, but I've never had the outlet to do it. So here goes!
But firstly...what exactly is a pet sitter? It sounds obvious, but many people aren't even aware that pet sitters/dog walkers even exist! So I'm here to educate and inform you on exactly what my duties are and how I can help you.
According to Pet Sitters International "“Pet sitting” is defined as “the act of caring for a pet in its own home while the owner is away.” Dog walking is also a form of pet sitting since it involves coming to the pet’s home to provide exercise and companionship. Caring for pets in the clients’ homes is what separates pet sitters from boarders or doggie daycares."
- Do you ever go on holiday or travel with work and struggle with pet care?
- Do you feel uneasy asking friends & family members or just do you just not trust them enough?
- Do you not like to leave your dog alone whilst your at work?
- Do you wish you had someone reliable to always be there when you needed them, even in emergencies?
That's where a pet sitter comes along. We're trained professionals, DBS checked, trained and experienced in providing pet care in your own home so your pet remains comfortable in its home environment as well as making sure your home is safe and well-kept whilst you're gone.
"Fun Fact: 63% of pet owners say “I love you” to their pet daily."
It all start out for me when I was going on holiday myself and the usual person who I used to look after my pets wasn't available. I was completely stuck. I tried to contact different pet sitters but everyone was so busy and said that because it was last minute they couldn't help me out. Admittedly...it was partly my fault for leaving it so late. However at the time I was determined for it never to happen again, and as I knew I had a huge love for animals, I decided to launch my own pet sitting business when I returned from holiday!
A pet sitter is there to advise you, to help you when your busy, & you're not around, & to give you the constant commitment and quality that both you and your pet need.
